Psalm 40:1-11
“Psalm 40 is about God’s capacity to surround us with a hedge of protection in a dangerous world–that safety does not keep us from harm or heart-break, that safety keeps us connected to the Divine Love that never leaves us–whether we believe it or not–that hedge of protection is what makes us human beings creatures who embody the necessity of change, the holiness of change, and yes, the capacity to change.
Our bodies have within them the wisdom of our creator, the image of our creator. We will never not have within us the power of God’s love to liberate us as a people.
Our problem is not that things are always changing, it is that we forget that we are built for change. In fact, healing is the capacity to integrate all that we’ve been through into a great ocean of compassion toward ourselves and each other.”
